It’s been over five years since we started Cactus Blossom Collective, a collaborative workspace in Livingston, Montana— a small, historic town located north of Yellowstone National Park. We recently renovated the space and now seems as good a time as any to properly introduce the shop!
The town of Livingston was founded as a direct result of the Northern Pacific Railway, the location served as an important centralized point in the Rocky Mountains. Livingston began as a collection of railroad shops specifically designed to service steam trains before continuing their journey westward.
The town eventually grew due to the added bonus of being an ideal landing place for folks traveling to visit Yellowstone, America’s first national park.
The building the shop resides was once known as the Park Hotel, a bustling and busy establishment serving travelers visiting Yellowstone. The section of the building where Cactus Blossom now sits was originally Livingston’s first post office.
In the 1960’s the post office was moved and the space was converted to a drug store.
This space is now a carefully curated shop and workspace serving the community of Livingston.
The front part of our store is a retail shop filled with thoughtfully sourced goods and the back half is a shared maker’s space where a handful of women work on their craft in a communal setting.
We love this quirky, historic space and feel lucky to be apart of such
a unique downtown and community.
